Creative Opportunity, Trip to Peru: March 2009
A field trip involving a holiday and working with artisans in small villages and towns in Peru is being planned for March 2009. This self-funded opportunity mixes helping and learning with artists and artisans with a chance to see this exciting, marvellous country. You would be part of a mixed-skilled group including health professionals who will also work in the villages.
As part of the trip you will see the sights of Peru: maybe Machu Pichu, the Amazon and the Nazca Lines, as well as other sights, off the normal tourist trail. The idea is for UK artists is to bring UK ideas to traditional crafts, hopefully encouraging the artisans to make more money through sales and open workshops, thus reducing their
reliance on aid. The aim is to find artisans or artists working in your area, so that you can spend time together creating. Three workshop communities were visited last year, which were only made
possible through micro-loans raised by UK visitors on previous trips.
